Quick Start
| Step | What to Do | Success Check |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Disconnect all power, remove the microSD card, align the boards exactly, and solder all 40 pins. | The boards are straight and parallel, with no missing, cold, cracked, loose, or bridged joints. |
| 2 | Use Raspberry Pi Imager to install a current Raspberry Pi OS release and complete the first boot. | The Raspberry Pi works before the display configuration is installed; enable Wi-Fi and SSH in Imager if installing remotely. |
| 3 | Read the exact model printed on the back: MZP351HV00BR_2025 or MZP351HV00BR. | You know which matching command or offline launcher to use; software cannot detect the screen model automatically. |
| 4 | Choose the online installer or the downloaded offline ZIP and use only the option matching the printed model. | The installer passes its checks, backs up config.txt, installs one managed display fragment, and reboots. |
| 5 | Disconnect HDMI and remove other HATs for the first display test. Allow 30–60 seconds after reboot. | Desktop shows a graphical desktop, Lite shows a text console, touch responds to light pressure, and the knob changes brightness. |
Hardware Installation
Before You Begin
This product must be soldered. The display 2x20 header must pass through the Raspberry Pi Zero GPIO holes and be soldered by the customer. One open, cold, bridged, shifted, or reversed connection can stop the display, touch, or Raspberry Pi from working.
Correct Soldering Orientation
Viewed from the rear, the brightness knob must be on the left and the Raspberry Pi HDMI and USB connectors must face the lower edge, exactly as shown.
Hardware Installation Steps
Step 1
Shut down the Raspberry Pi, disconnect every cable, and remove the microSD card before handling the boards.
Software Installation
Prepare Raspberry Pi OS
Use Raspberry Pi Imager to install a current Raspberry Pi OS release. Enable Wi-Fi and SSH in Imager if you plan to install remotely. Complete the first boot before installing the display configuration.
Choose 32-bit Raspberry Pi OS for Raspberry Pi Zero or Zero W/WH. Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W/2 WH can use 32-bit or 64-bit. Display and touch operation still require physical validation for each board and OS combination.
Check the Model Printed on the Back
Software cannot detect which screen is attached. Read the complete printed model before installing and use only its matching command or launcher.
| Back Label | Use This Option |
|---|---|
| MZP351HV00BR_2025 | --screen-model MZP351HV00BR_2025 |
| MZP351HV00BR | --screen-model MZP351HV00BR |
Method 1 — Online Install (Recommended)
Open Terminal or connect by SSH. Copy the command matching the back label as one complete line and press Enter once.
If the label says MZP351HV00BR_2025:
curl -fL --retry 3 --retry-all-errors https://raw.githubusercontent.com/iUniker/Pi-Zero-3.5-Inch-Screen-easy-setup/main/install.sh -o ~/iuniker-zero35-install.sh && sudo bash ~/iuniker-zero35-install.sh --screen-model MZP351HV00BR_2025 --rebootIf the label says MZP351HV00BR:
curl -fL --retry 3 --retry-all-errors https://raw.githubusercontent.com/iUniker/Pi-Zero-3.5-Inch-Screen-easy-setup/main/install.sh -o ~/iuniker-zero35-install.sh && sudo bash ~/iuniker-zero35-install.sh --screen-model MZP351HV00BR --rebootEnter the Raspberry Pi password if requested. Password characters may not appear while typing; this is normal. The installer downloads completely before it runs, checks compatibility and display conflicts, backs up config.txt, installs the matching display settings, and reboots automatically.
Method 2 — Install from Downloaded ZIP
Download the offline ZIP from https://github.com/iUniker/Pi-Zero-3.5-Inch-Screen-easy-setup/releases/download/v0.2.0-engineering.1/iUniker-Pi-Zero-3.5-Screen-Offline-Setup.zip on an Internet-connected device, transfer it to the Raspberry Pi, and extract the complete folder.
On Raspberry Pi OS Desktop, double-click INSTALL-MZP351HV00BR_2025 or INSTALL-MZP351HV00BR, matching the model printed on the back.
On Raspberry Pi OS Lite or a headless setup, open Terminal in the extracted folder and run one matching command:
bash INSTALL --screen-model MZP351HV00BR_2025or:
bash INSTALL --screen-model MZP351HV00BRThe offline package performs the same checks and changes and does not require Internet access on the Raspberry Pi.
Expected Result
Allow 30–60 seconds after reboot. Raspberry Pi OS Desktop should show a graphical desktop. Raspberry Pi OS Lite should show a text login console; this is normal. Touch should respond to light pressure in a graphical desktop, and slowly turning the hardware knob should adjust brightness.
Disconnect HDMI and remove other HATs and GPIO accessories for the first test.
What Changes
The installer supports both /boot/firmware/config.txt and /boot/config.txt layouts. It creates a timestamped config.txt backup, creates mzp351hv00br.txt in the boot partition, and adds one clearly marked managed include block.
The installer preserves applications, Wi-Fi, SSH, user files, and unrelated boot settings. It is safe to run again because it updates the managed block instead of duplicating it. It stops before writing when required overlays are missing or display conflicts are detected.
GPIO Usage
| Function | GPIO Use |
|---|---|
| DPI video | GPIO0-8, GPIO12-17, and GPIO20-24 |
| Resistive touch | SPI0 on GPIO9-11, with GPIO27 as the interrupt |
| Backlight enable | GPIO18; brightness is adjusted with the hardware knob |
| Not assigned by supplied configuration | GPIO19, GPIO25, and GPIO26 |
The complete physical 40-hole header is occupied, including power and ground pins.
Troubleshooting Checklist
| Symptom | Check First |
|---|---|
| Backlight is on but the screen is blank or white | Confirm the selected model matches the back label, installation completed, all 40 solder joints are sound, no bridges exist, and HDMI is disconnected. |
| Screen and backlight are off | Check the 5V power supply and cable, power and ground solder joints, board orientation, and brightness knob. |
| Picture flickers, is unstable, or has wrong colors | Inspect for a cold, partial, or bridged joint on a DPI video or sync pin and rework the soldering. |
| Picture works but touch does not | Inspect GPIO9-11 and GPIO27 joints, remove other SPI devices, and check the touch ribbon connector. |
| Image is sideways or has the wrong dimensions | Read the full model printed on the back and reinstall using its exact matching model option. |
| Raspberry Pi will not boot or becomes hot | Disconnect power immediately and inspect for reversed alignment, a one-pin offset, a one-row offset, and solder bridges. |
Remove the Setup
From the extracted offline setup folder, run:
sudo bash uninstall.sh --rebootThe uninstaller removes only the managed block, keeps a timestamped backup, preserves the former fragment as a disabled file, and reboots.
Create a Diagnostic Report
From the extracted offline setup folder, run:
sudo bash diagnose.sh | tee iuniker-zero35-diagnostic.txtThe report does not collect passwords, Wi-Fi credentials, or user files.
What to Send Support
Send iuniker-zero35-diagnostic.txt with the Raspberry Pi model, Raspberry Pi OS version, exact printed screen model, and sharp close-up photos of both solder rows.
Product Overview
The iUniker MZP351HV00BR-series display is a 3.5-inch parallel DPI LCD for Raspberry Pi Zero, Zero W/WH, and Zero 2 W/2 WH. It includes 4-wire resistive touch and a hardware brightness knob.
Two model numbers may be printed on the back: MZP351HV00BR_2025 and MZP351HV00BR. They require different display timing and touch calibration. Always choose the installer option that exactly matches the printed model.
The setup is non-destructive. It uses KMS, DPI, SPI, and ADS7846 support already supplied by Raspberry Pi OS. It does not replace the operating system or kernel, use DKMS, or change applications, Wi-Fi, SSH, user files, or unrelated boot settings.

QDoes this screen need to be soldered to the Raspberry Pi Zero?+
Yes. All 40 header pins must be correctly aligned and soldered. One missing, cold, loose, bridged, shifted, or reversed connection can stop the display, touch, or Raspberry Pi from working.
QHow do I choose between MZP351HV00BR_2025 and MZP351HV00BR?+
Read the complete model printed on the back of the physical screen. Software cannot detect it. Use only the online command or offline launcher matching that exact label.
QWhat happens if I choose the wrong screen model?+
The two versions use different display timing and touch calibration. The wrong option may produce a sideways image, incorrect dimensions, or incorrect touch behavior. Reinstall using the exact back-label model.
QWill the installer erase or replace Raspberry Pi OS?+
No. It uses Raspberry Pi OS supplied drivers, backs up config.txt, and adds only a managed display fragment and include block. It preserves applications, Wi-Fi, SSH, user files, and unrelated boot settings.
QCan I use 32-bit or 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS?+
Raspberry Pi Zero and Zero W/WH require 32-bit Raspberry Pi OS. Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W/2 WH can use 32-bit or 64-bit. Use current KMS-capable Raspberry Pi OS; every advertised display and OS combination still requires physical-screen validation.
